An opportunity to share innovative visions on urban spaces in an international context: NABA participates in the next edition of Bangkok Design Week (BKKDW). On Sunday, February 5, at 9:30 AM (Italian time), Elisa Poli (NABA Research Programme Leader) will give the lecture "From services to the city: social behaviours & urban quality" at the Thailand Creative & Design Center. The talk will be live on the festival's Facebook streaming channel. From an investigation of cities' transformations to the presentation of Urban Design projects by NABA students, this is the range of topics that will be addressed.

NABA at BKKDW and the Academic Master in New Urban Design

Experimental works, socially and commercially relevant projects, participatory experiences and activities: Bangkok Design Week focuses on the present and the future of design. Organised by the Creative Economy Agency in collaboration with international partners and institutions, the event attracts designers and companies from all over the world. It propels Bangkok to stand out as a UNESCO Creative City.

"From services to the city: social behaviours & urban quality" is in the 2023 edition's programme. The lecture analyses urban transformations in terms of discursive systems, narrative devices, social actions and services for citizens. It will show how NABA is an incubator of ideas (ethical and aesthetical) for the city and for improving the quality of life of its inhabitants. Some case studies relating to the design experiences of NABA students will be presented here.

The focus on the social factor of urban areas is at the core of NABA didactic offer. Indeed, the topics of the talk are widely explored within the Academic Master in New Urban Design. The programme gives a new perspective on the role of urban designers and allows the students to enhance their experience in reading into, interpreting and designing cities.
