Images and stories from NABA students, alumni and lecturers are on the big screen. From Filmmaker 2022 to the RIFF Awards and Visioni Italiane, their audiovisual projects take part in some of the most important Italian film festivals. These events pay attention to emerging authors and independent productions. They are an opportunity to discover the filmmakers of the future and the Academy's interest in the language of film.

NABA and Filmmaker Festival 2022: the shorts and feature films

Three works related to NABA will take part in Filmmaker Festival 2022 – a Milanese event held from November 18 to 28. Two of these will compete in the Prospettive section and come to screen 2 of the ARCOBALENO FILM CENTER. On November 19 at 3:00 PM, it will be the time of CONDOMINIO N°IMX172 – a documentary by BA in Film and Animation student Gaia Longobardi. Here, a block of flats shows its essence through an oscillating motion that is its non-human language.

On November 21 at 7:30 PM, it will come the turn of "Dog Bite, Horse Kick" by Visual Arts Department alumna Elsa Sohlberg. Behind every scar is a story: they are signs that carry memories. The author's poetic effort aims to narrate them and to look at the gap between word and image.

The Competition section includes "BALKANICA" by NABA lecturer Marianna Schivardi. The world premiere of the feature film will be at CINETECA MILANO ARLECCHINO on November 26 at 7:00 PM.

From RIFF Awards to Visioni Italiane, NABA alumni in competition

Held from 17 to November 25, the RIFF Awards in Rome will screen the short film "L'inusuale proposta di vivere" by NABA alumnus Alex Ciuffardi. Here, the main character – Joseph – is a man who calls his birth in front of a telephone. Apparently destined by will to follow the device's wire, he chases an answer to his life, or rather, to his lives. The showing will take place at the Cinema Aquila on November 21 at 10:00 PM.

To conclude, four Media Design and New Technologies Area alumni took part in Visioni Italiane – a Cineteca di Bologna's festival dedicated to emerging authors, held from November 2 to 6. They were Federico Demattè (with "Inchei"), Gabriele Manzoni ("Guardieladri"), Simone Bozzelli ("Giochi") and Federico Di Corato ("Manuale di cinematografia per dilettanti - Vol.1").
