A new way of understanding solidarity, NABA and Okapia joined forces on the occasion of the "Beauty Seeders" design contest. The students of the BA in Design, Product Design specialisation, and the MA in Social Design were asked to create a collection of objects. Rwandan women will produce the winning projects.

The design competition: the winners

Okapia is an organisation that manages a network of cooperatives and provides professional training courses in Rwanda. It involves vulnerable women that will now produce the competition's winning projects: "Whole Family" - by BA in Design students Gaia Colella and Paolo De Castiglioni - and "Mnyama" - by MA in Social Design students Sara Millozza and Marisol Beltrami. The first one is a collection of accessories for men, children and pets made of Wax fabric. "Mnyama" is a playful and educational project that includes folk tales, assemblable toy animals and a packaging experience. Both of them were distinguished by functionality and style, availability of materials, ease of realisation and low production costs. The projects were awarded at the La Marzocco exhibition area on April 19, in the context of the Fuorisalone.
