The Academy is glad to announce that Andrea Pedrali, alumnus of the BA in Design, has had his thesis project "Narì", selected for inclusion in the ADI Design Index 2023 by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory. The project, created under the guidance of Claudio Larcher (NABA Design Area Leader), has also been selected for the Targa Giovani.

"Narì": the project

Congratulations to Andrea Pedrali for the prestigious accolade awarded to “Narì”—an outdoor chair distinguished by its nostalgic design. Designed to reimagine the quintessential 1960s metal armchair through the judicious employment of modern materials, this project blends craftsmanship, cultural insight, and visionary foresight, narrating a contemporary era where circularity has become an ethical mandate.

NABA alumnus has thoughtfully selected sustainable materials reclaimed from waste found in the Basso Sebino area, on the western shore of Lake Iseo—a region historically recognised as the cradle of the specialised rubber and plastic industrial district, known as the “Rubber Valley”, in the early Twentieth century.

In an epoch marked by uncertainty and perpetual evolution, the emphasis on experimenting with new technologies and materials regains its significance, offering a retrospective yet innovative look to chart a course for a future in which creative solutions effectively mitigate the scarcity of raw materials.
