Tucano has challenged NABA design students on the interpretation and the design of a backpack intended as a "container" to be used at the University but inspired by the city.
If the city is the environment for studying, working, playing, for movement, speed and even chaos, the backpack should be the projection of all of that, developing the concept of agility and multi-functionality.
"The quality of the product is defined by the perfect combination of form, function and meaning. The purpose was to find a visible graphic sign that became the identity for the product, for the owner and for the brand; but also that was a functional element of the backpack."
"In Youngster the shoulder straps draw a line of continuity with the front, where they become decoration and latch. The other peculiarity are the hidden zips on both sides, which allow access to the entire structure, to facilitate the research of your objects, especially when we usually carry the backpack to the chest without removing it completely from the shoulders."
During the 2018 Milano Design Week, NABA has exhibited a series of design projects and prototypes developed by the students, including the brand-new Tucano backpacks.

NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti during the Design Week took part in the event conceived by Alcova, at the spaces of the Ex Macello di Porta Vittoria - in Viale Molise, 62 in Milan - with the exhibition "L'Allievo. A dialogue between generations of designers NABA".
Developed in collaboration with Ducati Milano as part of an initiative promoted by Ducati Mercato Italia, this NABA project involved Design Area students in reinterpreting the XDiavel V4 motorcycle, transforming its identity, power and engineering language into an installation.
“Future Makers” is a multidisciplinary project in which NABA students, working with Archivio Mantero, transformed the foulard into a narrative device: through archival research, materials and hybrid languages, they created works that link manufacturing memory with future visions.
