The Project

Pop! Abitare, voce del verbo popolare is a magazine dedicated to the inhabitants of the social housing owned by the Municipality of Milano. It is printed in more than 30'000 copies and distributed to all the social housing tenants all over the city, directly in their home mail boxes. It is a project promoted by MM Spa, that reaches more than 50'000 people. Aim of the initiative is to involve student, dwellers and community associations in social activities that can enhance and give visibility to the exchange of experiences and to the gathering of stories, desires, visions.

Luca Poncellini
<p><strong>Design and Applied Arts Department Head</strong></p> <p>Luca Poncellini is an architect and a designer with a PhD in the History of Architecture and City Planning. As a partner in the architecture office Cliostraat until 2009, he has curated projects and has lectured in Italy and in several countries throughout the world. His works have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, at the Van Alen Institute in New York, at ETH in Z&uuml;rich, at MAGA in Gallarate and at Triennale Milano. In 2008 he co-curated the retrospective exhibition Laszlo Hudec, in collaboration with the Hungarian Consulate in Shanghai. Since 2013 he has been the Course Leader of the MA in Interior Design. Between 2015 and 2019 directed the research lab and the project C-Park. Since 2019 he has been Design and Applied Arts Department Head.</p>

<p>Sound Engineer and Sound Designer, he earned his BA in Recording Arts and his MA in Creative Media Practice at Middlesex University (London), and, later on, he also graduated in Computer Science at Politecnico di Milano. His research interests include generative compositional techniques, contemporary music, artificial intelligence, interaction design, sound and audio technology, which he investigates through his ongoing PhD Studies, based at the Creative Research into Sound Arts Practice (CRiSAP) centre of London College of Communication at University of the Arts London. From 2003 to 2015, he worked in a variety of academic positions in the field of Sound at SAE Institute, that he has also directed. At NABA he has been the Design and Applied Arts Department Head&nbsp; (2015-2019) also teaching Sound Design. NABA Dean since 2019, he guides educational activities of the Academy.</p>

<p>Born in Milan, he graduated in Architecture at Politecnico di Milano. After a research period in Spain, in Madrid and Barcelona, in 2002 he founded his own studio, Modoloco Design Workshop, a space for experimentation and research, where diverse cultures and experiences are implemented as architectural and design forms. He has taught at the Faculty of Design and Arts of the Free University of Bozen, at Politecnico di Milano, and lectured in Italian and international institutions. He curated and participated in several exhibitions in Italy, Japan, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Sweden. Ambassador of Italian Design for Switzerland, Albany and Uruguay in 2017, 2018, 2019, he is the author of the books Globetrotting designers (Compositori), Design, scuola e solidariet&agrave; (Fausto Lupetti), Design from the Alps (Scheidegger Und Spiess), and Disegnare un cucchiaio per cambiare la citt&agrave; (Quodlibet).</p>

<p>A photography critic and curator, he curated exhibitions and monographies of artists such as Mark Cohen, Guido Guidi, Olivo Barbieri, Takashi Homma, Linda Fregni Nagler, Boris Mikhailov, Francesco Jodice, and many others. Among his most recent publications are catalogues about th work by Luigi Ghirri, Alec Soth and Erik Kessels. The curator of CAMERA Centro Italiano per la Fotografia, from 2015 through 2017, he has participated in conferences and seminars in numerous Italian and international institutions, including Columbia University in New York. An associate editor of Fantom, a curatorial platform, he has recently curated the exhibition <em>Give Me Yesterday</em> and <em>Questioning Pictures. Stefano Graziani</em> at the Fondazione Prada Osservatorio. He is the Artistic Director of Foto/Industria, the Biennial of Photography on Industry and Work at Fondazione MAST, Bologna.</p>
