On May 7 at 4:30 PM, the final event of the third edition of the Z-PITCH Contest will take place at the Cinecittà hall in Casa del Cinema at Villa Borghese (largo Marcello Mastroianni 1, Rome). This annual competition is aimed at students and recent graduates of the Schools of Cinema and Media Design in Italy, intended to enhance the education and creativity of the new generation in the audiovisual field. Sponsored by NABA and Fondazione Cinema per Roma, in collaboration with the Civica Scuola di Cinema Luchino Visconti and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli, Z-PITCH targets Generation Z, inviting them to propose original and non-produced audiovisual storytelling projects (in feature film or serial project format), to bring to the attention of film and television professionals the ideas of young authors and filmmakers, whether still students or recent graduates, who demonstrate talent and ability in identifying relevant contemporary themes and originality in storytelling.

The concluding day of the Z-PITCH Contest serves as a significant opportunity for participants, who will have the chance to engage in a public Pitching session in addition to the award ceremony.

Z-PITCH Contest: the finalist projects

A panel comprising lecturers and industry professionals has selected 7 finalist projects for the contest whose authors, in April at the Academy's Rome campus, participated in a masterclass of advanced training and preparation for the frontal pitching session, coordinated by NABA and Fondazione Cinema per Roma and in collaboration with professionals such as Stefano Tealdi (director and producer), Maria Grazia Li Bergoli (WIFTMI- Women in Film, Television and Media Italia), Romano Montesarchio (director, screenwriter and documentary filmmaker), and Massimo Torre (screenwriter).

The 7 finalist projects competing for the two prizes are: ·

  • Negghia by Saverio Biancone and Costanza Fusco (Scuola d'arte cinematografica Gian Maria Volontè) ·
  • Madreperla by Ottavia Farchi (Accademia del Cinema Ragazzi Bari) ·
  • Bruma by Gabriele Lippi (NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) ·
  • Where You Remember by Martina Lorusso (NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) ·
  • Pillola Rossa by Elisa Pontillo, Romano Marques, and Vincenzo Giordano (Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli) ·
  • The Journey of A Scent by Livia Oya Proto (RUFA – Rome University of Fine Arts) ·
  • Legato by Tommaso Ongis (Civica Scuola di Cinema Luchino Visconti)

Z-PITCH Contest: the closing event at Casa del Cinema in Rome

At the event on Tuesday, May 7, the 7 finalists, moderated by Alexia De Vito (Special Projects  - Fondazione Cinema per Roma) and Francesca Staasch (NABA Academic Master in Screenwriting for Series Course Leader), will present their projects during a public and free Pitching session in front of a distinguished jury, including Stefano Sardo (writer, director, founder of Nightswim production), Astrid de Berardinis (Vice President of Paramount Global Content Distribution, Vice President of Women in Film, Television and Media Italia, Art Therapist), and Serena Sostegni (Lucky Red  - creative producer). The jury will be tasked with awarding the prize for the Best Pitch presented during the public session and the Best Audiovisual Project.

The winners will not only receive the award but also the opportunity to attend a high-level training course with bespoke tutoring to prepare their project for Italian and international market platforms. In addition, they will be gifted accreditation for the next edition of the Festa del Cinema di Roma.
