On the occasion of the 80th Venice International Film Festival, NABA, Cinematografo, and Giornate degli Autori join forces. The very first edition of the prize "Le vie dell'immagine" springs from that collaboration. Both events are open to the public. On September 4, Shirin Neshat herself will hold a masterclass reserved for students.

The initiatives with Giornate degli Autori and Cinematografo

The "Le vie dell'immagine" prize for the arts of vision

"Le vie dell'immagine" was born to pay homage to cinematography as well as to those who create, support, watch, study, disseminate, and talk about it. For the first time together, NABA, Cinematografo and Giornate degli Autori will award the Prize to Shirin Neshat - an artist experimenting through photography, video and film. Her work faces issues of power, religion, ethnicity, and gender. It looks at the relationships between past and present, East and West, individual and collective. The ceremony will end a programme of events directly involving the Academy in the 80th Venice International Film Festival.

The "Riflessioni fra formazione, ricerca e autorialità" talk

“Riflessioni fra formazione, ricerca e autorialità. Nei percorsi di Cinema in NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti" is an excursus on the production of short films by young authors. In particular, the talk will focus on the features of the NABA didactic approach.

Vincenzo Cuccia (Media Design and New Technologies and Set Design Area Leader), Marianna Schivardi (director and NABA lecturer), Saverio Pesapane (partner - Premiere Film, NABA lecturer) will speak during the event. Alessandro Bertante (writer and Course Leader of the Bachelor of Arts in Film and Animation) and Federico Dematté (NABA alumnus) will also take the floor. The first one is the author of the book "Nina dei Lupi". The homonymous movie drawn from his novel will be presented worldwide in Venice on August 30. While Federico Demattè will compete in the SIC@SIC section with his thesis project "Pinoquo".

The masterclass with Shirin Neshat

The masterclass with Shirin Neshat is among the initiatives involving NABA during the 80th Venice International Film Festival. It is dedicated to the Academy's students and will take place at the Casa degli Autori on September 4. The award-winning director, Marianna Schivardi, Giorgio Gosetti (General Delegate - Giornate degli Autori) and Gianluca Arnone (journalist - Cinematografo) will contribute to the conversation.
