NABA renews its participation in the Milano Digital Week 2025, the event promoted by the Municipality of Milan and organised by TIG – The Innovation Group, whose theme for this eighth edition is “Tutte le intelligenze delle città” (All the intelligences of the city). From October 1 to 5, 2025, Milan will host five days of initiatives dedicated to exploring the evolution of the digital future and discussing innovations that are reshaping the intelligences of tomorrow.
As an Academic Partner within the Milano Digital Week programme, NABA will present three initiatives taking place at the hub of the event: the MEET – Digital Culture Centre (Via Vittorio Veneto 2, Milan).
NABA at Milano Digital Week 2025: “Enhanced City – AI, Urban Metabolism & Regenerative Futures”
The first initiative proposed by NABA will take place on October 3 at 5:30 PM in the Theater of MEET, with “Enhanced City – AI, Urban Metabolism & Regenerative Futures”: a pitching session dedicated to projects developed by students of the MA in User Experience Design at the Academy, guided by NABA lecturer Paolo Atzori, starting from the theme Designing the Enhanced City: Integrating AI and Urban Metabolism within a Regenerative Framework.
The session, moderated by writer and journalist Pietro Minto, will present the new urban visions of NABA students, exploring ideas, prototypes and scenarios that bring together technological innovation, systemic design and urban regeneration.
Based on Environment-Centred Design, the projects explored the potential of Augmented Intelligence and the Urban Metabolism model to rethink cities as more sustainable, resilient and human. The outcomes included solutions to tackle noise pollution, an intelligent and interactive playground that responds, teaches, and is powered by children’s gestures, serving as a form of environmental education for the youngest, and virtual gardening experiences designed to raise awareness about reducing CO₂ emissions in the era of smart cities. The event offered a unique opportunity to observe how the new generations – tomorrow’s professionals – interpret the urban future through the dialogue between artificial intelligence, sustainability and design imagination.
NABA at Milano Digital Week 2025: “Visioni Artificiali”
The second initiative, “Visioni Artificiali”, will take place from October 4 to 5, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM in the Urban Lobby of MEET. The exhibition has been conceived to investigate the role of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in creative processes, presenting students’ ideas and reflections on contemporaneity, society and sustainability. Interactive motion capture installations, virtual reality experiences, data visualisation and interaction design projects will invite the public to imagine new expressive possibilities, creating a dialogue where storytelling, interaction and technological research converge.
The projects were developed within the MAs in Creative Media Production, under the supervision of NABA lecturer Martin Romeo and Riccardo Baccani, and in User Experience Design, guided by NABA lecturer Paolo Atzori with the support of NABA Research Assistant Michele Lomonaco.
NABA at Milano Digital Week 2025: “De l’Anatomia”
On October 4 at 6:00 PM, in the Theater of MEET, the audiovisual performance with interactive images “De l’Anatomia” will take place. Curated by Gianluca Rubino and Pierpaolo Grandinetti, Alumni of NABA’s MA in Creative Media Production, it originates from photogrammetries of abandoned places, transformed into a narrative interweaving acoustic and electronic soundscapes to give new life to a lost heritage. An immersive experience that combines historical memory and technology, it reflects on the power of digital tools to reconstruct and reinterpret past knowledge. Through 3D modelling and live sound processing, the project evokes the fire that destroyed the Anatomical Theatre of Venice in the 19th century.
