Capturing contestation becomes a form of dissent itself. Here is the essence of PROTEST. The Academic Master in Photography and Visual Design exhibition searches for dialogue between photography and other media. The opening will be on July 7 at 6:00 PM, at Condominio Arte, via Melchiorre Gioia, 41 in Milan. PROTEST can be visited every day until July 17, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Access to the exhibition is by appointment, by writing to info@condomionioarte.xyz.

Beyond the photography exhibition: concept and protagonists of PROTEST

PROTEST stems from the observation and analysis of the countless ways contestations occurred and have been represented over time. The exhibition invites us to stand against everything worth protesting about: the world, ourselves and everything in between. The twenty-three selected projects are shouted, scratched, angry or whispered signs of protest. They have been realised during the A.Y. 2021/22 by capturing political, social, ecological, economic, philosophical, and health issues as well as group and individual struggles.

Works are by students of the Academic Master in Photography and Visual Design: Katia Azurdia, Lily-Violette Bros, Vincenzo Cannizzo, Ivana Castronovo, Erica Cesaro, Rebecca Curri, Valeria Dellisanti, Morgana De Santis, Sera Galea, Lisbet Elena González Pina, Luis David Hernandez, Dong Jingyi, Ruike Li, Phalanvita Madhyala, Ariadna Melani Matias, Claudio Palma, Jiratchaya Pattarathumrong, Leslei Pepin, Sachi Ravindra Deshmukh, Irem Sevil Baskan, Beatrice Valessina, Veronica Volpe, Chen Wen-Ting and Alessia Zampano.

PROTEST was curated by lecturers Luca Andreoni and Francesco Zanot, respectively Visiting Professor and Course Advisor Leader of the same Master. They explain the project's purpose, which is to fight against photography's isolation and promote hybridisation with any other art discipline. Videos, performances, installations, collages, and analogue and digital interventions burst into the exhibition space.
