NABA and Mantero Seta are glad to announce a new Mentorship Project between two excellences in the world of education and fashion. The encounter between the Academy - which has just turned 40 - and the historic textile company founded in Como by Riccardo Mantero, which is about to turn 120, starts from the common reflection on the future of the field and on the enhancement of the numerous precious "crafts" that characterize it. These are ancient, unique and special practices that are handed down and are innovated over time.

Mantero Seta has been investing in young people for a long time, by introducing creative talents into the company, that later on specialised in the many fields present in a large verticalised textile company: variant designers, jacquard designers, textile designers, product managers just to name a few. Generational change and formative path are two fundamental aspects for those who, like Mantero Seta, intend to combine the textile tradition with all aspects of experimentation and innovation.

NABA Mentorship Project with Mantero will involve students of the new MA in Textile Design, starting in October 2021, with the aim of creating professionals capable of managing all stages of textile and knitwear design. The MA offers innovative and sustainable laboratory and cultural contents that allow students to learn about the subject and its expression in the fashion and art industry as well as to seek their own vision that finds expression in extremely personal projects.

This new collaboration will give the students of the MA in Textile Design the opportunity to get to the heart of the many professions linked to this world. During the course, students will develop a specific project shared with Mantero Seta and will have the opportunity to deepen their academic knowledge in the field. The collaboration also includes job shadowing courses that will allow young creatives to work alongside a professional in the textile world for a whole day. In addition, the most deserving will be offered the opportunity to carry out a three-month internship.

NABA Mentorship Project with Mantero combines training and experience in the field with a look to the future in order to offer students the opportunity to discover the countless professions and the most recent and innovative frontiers in the world of textiles.
