NABA Media Design and News Technologies Area and Triennale Milano are glad to present the last digital event of the initiative “Media Explosion. What it is like to be human today”, curated by Leonardo Caffo, philosopher and NABA lecturer, and Amos Bianchi, NABA Media Design and New Technologies Area Leader, as part of the online programme of Triennale Upside Down. 

On 24th March at 11 am the Talk involving the American writer Lev Manovich will take place, with an introduction by Guido Tattoni, NABA Dean. 

Starting from the question “How can we predict what culture will be like in decades?” the writer will present methods to foresee 2050’s culture through the most relevant projects of a selection of artists, designers, architects and directors of 20th Century that were creating the future’s culture.

Lev Manovich is one of the leading theorists of digital culture worldwide and a pioneer in the application of data science for analysis of contemporary culture. Manovich is the author and editor of 15 books including Cultural Analytics, AI Aesthetics, Theories of Software Culture, Instagram and Contemporary Image, Software Takes Command, Soft Cinema: Navigating the Database and The Language of New Media which was described as “the most suggestive and broad-ranging media history since Marshall McLuhan.” He was included in the list of “25 People Shaping the Future of Design” in 2013 and the list of “50 Most Interesting People Building the Future” in 2014. Manovich is a Presidential Professor at The Graduate Center, CUNY, and a Director of the Cultural Analytics Lab.

The event will be will be in English with simultaneous translation into Italian, will be live-streamed on Zoom, and then posted on the website and the YouTube channel of Triennale and NABA.
