From the intersectionality of race to gender, bell hooks' thought has been central to the art world and Western society. NABA dedicates "Imparare a trasgredire" to the American thinker. The event will be open to the public and will take place in Room E1.1 of the NABA campus in Milan, via Carlo Darwin 20, on March 29 at 4.30 PM. The workshop is just one of the initiatives of the Visual Arts Area in this period.

bell hooks, feminism and inequality in a talk at NABA

"Imparare a trasgredire" is a class to think, have a confrontation and inspire artistic expression. It comes at the end of the Exhibition Design II course, held by the teacher Elvira Vannini, as part of the second year of the MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies. The event is an open laboratory with contributions focusing on the American activist and author's work. The report "Why is the white cube so white?", the feminist reading "Come falene sulla sabbia infuocata" and the dialogue between Ivette Peña Rivas and the artist collective Frente Gráfico Feminista will take up some of the issues faced by bell hooks.

"Utopia" and "La Natura e la Preda": the other events of the Visual Arts Area

NABA lecturers of NABA Visual Arts Area Elisabetta Benassi, Rä di Martino, Alessandro Piangiamore (for Rome campus), Marcello Maloberti (in Milan campus) ed Ettore Favini (active in both campus) are also among the established artists chosen by Treccani Arte for "Utopia" - a collection of limited edition posters with only 100 copies of each work. “Utopia” has a titanic and unattainable goal: offering a visual representation of all the Treccani Vocabulary headwords. It also celebrates creativity and the Italian language.
Marco Scotini (NABA Visual Arts Department Head) curates the exhibition "La Natura e la Preda". It can be visited at PAV Parco Arte Vivente, via Giordano Bruno 31, Turin, until May 29, 2022. The exhibition deals with the theme of colonial memory through the works of a group of four young Italian artists. Three of the participating artists - Irene Coppola, Edoardo Manzoni and Daniele Marzorati - are NABA alumni as well as Giulia Mengozzi and Arnold Braho that curated the exhibition booklet.
