"The Parliament of Things": projects and concepts

The projects by the students and alumni of the Visual Arts Department that will be on show at PAV are: the performance "In Acqua e terra la mano" ("In Water and land the hand") by Chiara Antonelli; the installation "Il fungo delle Alpi" ("The mushroom of the Alps") by Davide Barberi; Traian Cherecheș’s sculptures; the illustrated botanical manual "Erbario di genere - I fiori ermafroditi come concetto di genere nell’antropocene" ("Herbarium of gender - Hermaphrodite flowers as a concept of gender in the anthropocene") by Chiara Scodeller. Among the works of art, the manifesto "The Parliament of Things" by Alessandro Cavallini, which lends its name to the whole exhibition project.

Inspired by the programme of philosopher and anthropologist Bruno Latou, theories and practices animating political ecology and eco-feminism are at the core of the exhibition. Since the second half of the last century, they have challenged the neo-liberal and heteropatriarchal model. Such a “landslide” has ensured for subsequent generations new routes and expressive spaces. The aim was to bring to the surface those aesthetic forms which focus on nodal visions for the future of society. This means overcoming conflicting categorisations – such as those of gender or the one between nature and culture – and returning of meaning to autobiographical and collective experiences.

The exhibitions "The Parliament of Things" and "Andare con le radici" ("Going with the roots") by the Wurmkos group have been realised with the support of Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione CRT, Regione Piemonte, Municipality of Turin.
