Among the young artists selected to be ambassadors of Italian contemporary art in the under 35 section we find: Giacomo Segantin, student of the MA in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies, with his picture “Senza titolo (progetto sassaia)”, that frames his installation, created during a residence into ENI’s Ex-Village in Borca di Cador, and born with the aim of articulating the complexity of what we are used to call “landscape”; and the ex-students of the same MA, Camilla Alberti presenting “The Overstory. Nella terra sottovoce (Ricamo industriale)” which proposes a parallelism between the World Wide Web and the Wood Wide Web, the “biological web”; Irene Coppola, with the installation “
Home Page
” that summarises through the web page HOME PAGE a constantly changing contemporary imaginary, made up of digital drawings and gifs; Giovanna Repetto in her work of art “Maremoto-Atmosfera n.2” reflects on the de-contextualization of landscapes and how their image takes on different forms through human action; and Eleonora Roaro with “FIAT 633NM”, a critical analysis and a deconstruction of the role of the colonial enterprises of the fascist era in the Horn of Africa. The five works of art were selected among the works of more than 290 artists, to be part of the 20 projects selection of the under 35 category.
Moreover, into the section Cantica21 dedicated to the poet Dante Alighieri, as an initiative to mark the 700th anniversary of his death, the artist and NABA Lecturer Marinella Senatore has been selected among the 5 winners with her installation “A salire a le stelle / To Climb To The Stars” inspired by Canto XXIV and Canto XXV of the Inferno.
Born from the collaboration between Farnesina and MiBACT, Cantica 21 ITALIAN CONTEMPORARY ART EVERYWHERE is an initiative that promotes and valorises the production of works of art by emerging and established artists, to exhibit them into foreign countries starting from the second half of 2021. This important recognition confirms the international positioning of NABA’s Visual Arts Department.
