From the issue of the truthfulness in documentaries to the intersection between reality and fiction, the masterclass and the workshop "Experiential cinema: il cinema dell'esperienza diretta" focused on these topics. Thanks to this experience, the students of the BA in Cinema and Animation and those of the MA in Creative Media Production had the opportunity to discuss with director Roberto Minervini. They acquired a new awareness of documentary filmmaking.

A masterclass and a workshop on documentary filmmaking

"Experiential Cinema" was an opportunity to explore the media of documentary. It faced the evolution of this kind of film, the influences of fiction, and the split between "true" and "false". The three-day event with Roberto Minervini opened with a masterclass at CINETECA MILANO ARLECCHINO. Here, the director presented his latest film, "What You Gonna Do When the World's on Fire?". Then, Dario Zonta (producer and NABA lecturer) moderated the debate with the audience. In the following days, students were involved in the workshop activities. They deepened the connection between fiction and documentary in order to avoid the veracity issue. Thanks to the acquired skills, they filmed on campus to tell the story of the Open Day experience - the very first contact with NABA for many high school students.
