The distortion of arabesques on veg tan leather is the hallmark of the handmade pieces by Hannah Andergassen, a Fashion Design Area student. Thanks to the Craft The Leather contest, she presented her capsule collection "Arabesque & Grotesque" at Lineapelle - the international exhibition of leather, accessories, components, fabrics, synthetics and models.

The contest and the collection at Lineapelle

Craft the Leather is an initiative of the Genuine Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium. Seven talents from international fashion-design institutes participated in the ninth edition. NABA student Hannah Andergassen was one of them. Her collection takes inspiration from the arabesque of artworks in the Museum of the Conservatorio di Santa Chiara in San Miniato. It is also influenced by the grotesque. Thanks to this mix of styles, functional, decorative or distorting accessories and clothes interact with the human body. All pieces have a natural handmade aesthetic. They are shaped through different techniques, from wet moulding to carving.
