Milano Fashion Week is a unique moment for emerging designers. NABA students and alumni take this opportunity to showcase their creations. From Mittelmoda to Milano Moda Graduate and the Fashion Hub of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, the Academy will be represented in many events this year.

NABA's participation in the Fashion Week

The calendar of events anticipates the official start of Fashion Week by one day. On September 19, at MICAM in Fiera Milano, the second-year student of the MA in Fashion and Textile Design, Pierfrancesco Pierucci, will take part in the final stages of Mittelmoda The Fashion Award. The international competition pits emerging fashion designers enrolled in art and design schools worldwide against each other.

The day after, the fashion show of the Milano Moda Graduate, now in its eighth edition, will take place at the ADI Design Museum in Piazza Compasso d'Oro 1. Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana promotes the event. The aim is to show the talent of students coming from the best Italian fashion schools. Andrea Capobianco - alumnus of the BA in Fashion Design - is among the finalists in the Fashion Design category. While the student of the MA in Fashion Design, Carlotta Civolani, will participate in the YKK category dedicated to looks focusing on zippers and fastening accessories.

Again on September 20 and at the ADI Design Museum, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana will open the doors of its Fashion Hub. A room will be dedicated to the finalists of the Kia Designers Awards - the contest rewarding young talents of fashion and design. Here, emerging designers will present their original disruptive outfits, resulting from a mentoring programme focused on technology and the concept of newness. A technical committee selected six finalists, including MA in Fashion Design student Camilla Ruggerini and contemporary street-punk brand DassùYAmoroso, co-founded by NABA alumnus Stefano Dassù.
The winner will be announced during the Milano Fashion Week opening night. They will "dress" a special New Kia Sportage - the expression of Kia's new design path "Opposites United".

On September 20, CMNI Fashion Hub will host the three winners of the Who is on next? 2022 project, promoted by Altaroma. The collection of Lessico Familiare - the brand founded by Academy lecturers and alumni Riccardo Scaburri, Alice Curti, Alberto Petillo - will be presented.

Finally, Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana space will host the We Are Made in Italy project (WAMI collective) featuring NABA alumni Villain and Phan Dang Hoang; the 6th edition of the Designer for the Planet project, which aims to enhance the Italian sustainable fashion scene, includes a showcase of Acidalatte, the brand founded by NABA alumnae Eva Fiorucci and Carolina Ferrari.
