The Programme: overview

The MA in Interior Design (Second Level Academic Degree in Design) develops all-round professional profiles ready to enter the global marketplace. In the contemporary world, interiors play an increasingly important role in individual and collective living spaces of global cities, becoming part of a complex physical and narrative system. The MA enables its students to deal with conceptual and operational issues through an interdisciplinary approach open to innovation and cultural exchange, and different project experiences led by
international professionals.

Over the MA, students will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore the limits and constraints of the world of interior design, acquiring and widening their critical and creative thinking skills
  • Develop a solid design and professional thinking, to define a conscious and mature methodological approach
  • Design how humans will live, work, and communicate through interior spaces
STUDY PLAN
<p>The Master of Arts allows students to deepen their knowledge through highly specialised studies and to acquire the theoretical and practical instruments necessary to understand methodological processes and to develop an interior design project, in a practical workshop dimension.</p> <p>Through the analysis of the fundamental project methodologies of interior design with an innovative and interdisciplinary approach, as well as thanks to various field experiences, students have the opportunity to confront the professional context, experiencing new creative and operational models for the global design world.<br /><br /></p> <p><strong>FIRST YEAR</strong></p> <p>Introduces students to the main themes of the programme and provide the most effective research and project implementation instruments, exploring the different techniques, materials and technologies for space representation, through studies in interior design, project methodology, 3D modelling and rendering, history of art, furniture design, brand design, design history.</p> <p>Through workshop experiences and theoretical lectures, students deepen their path developing cultural, theoretical and technical skills for a sound understanding of meanings and values linked to interior and public space projects, relational qualities of the space, relationship among space, men and objects.<br />&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>SECOND YEAR</strong></p> <p>Advanced studies in design, exhibition design, project culture, light design, design management and art direction reinforce knowledge and skills necessary to manage an interior design project for complex public spaces, enabling students to handle the entire design process, from concept to executive design, including the strategies to present the project in all of its phases.</p> <p>In the wider educational scope of one of the most important cities in the world of contemporary design, the cross-disciplinary workshops and the different project experiences allow students to acquire a methodological approach suitable for professional career.</p>
