The Project
The students of the MA in Communiacation Design of NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, are the protagonists of the important rebranding project that will affect the primary and secondary school of first degree Giacosa - Casa del Sole, a historic Milanese institute with a tradition dating back to the 1920s and became the first Istituto Comprensivo in Milan in 1995, now headed by the educational director Francesco Muraro.
The ambitious objective at the center of rebranding activity has placed in the foreground the will to give the school a new visual identity able to represent its history, its values of integration and multi-ethnicity, the union between the different complexes and promote its teaching method at international level.
The students involved had the opportunity, during the months of work on the project, to live the school park the House of the Sun as if it were a large classroom of "La scuola diffusa", the educational project promoted by Ester Manitto, designer and teacher NABA, as part of the MA in Design of Communication led by the Course Leader Fabio Pelagalli, aimed at perceiving the city as a system educational, thus exploring the school park of the former Trotter where the various school pavilions are located, the pleats outside the park that are part of the State Comprehensive Institute, coming into direct contact with the school reality, the neighborhood, the volunteer associations, as well as the children and teachers present.
An experience that has been able to fully exploit the "learning by doing" method of the Academy, offering students the opportunity to work in the field to develop critical thinking, problem solving skills, cooperation, teamwork and practical design skills.
