The Marco Polo/Turandot program is an initiative of the Conference of Italian University Rectors (Conferenza dei Rettori delle Università Italiane - CRUI), created as an international agreement between Italy and China. The aim of the program is to strengthen scientific cooperation between Italy and Asia and to increase the number of Chinese students at Italian Universities (Marco Polo) and Institutions of Artistic, Music and Dance Higher Education (Turandot).

The Turandot program has been developed to enable Chinese students to gain a good level of proficiency of the Italian language and culture (students are expected to attain B1/B2 linguistic competences), so that they can successfully study at an Italian institution of higher education.

NABA, as an AFAM Institution, adheres to the Turandot international cooperation program and intends to contribute to the effectiveness of the project by welcoming aspiring Chinese students who are able to demonstrate suitable technical, artistic and linguistic skills to access BA (Diploma Accademico di 1° Livello)  and MA (Diploma Accademico di 2° Livello)  courses.

TURANDOT STUDENTS QUOTAS

NABA reserves a set number of places for young Chinese students taking part in the Turandot program for each academic year at BA (Diploma Accademico di 1° Livello) and MA (Diploma Accademico di 2° Livello) levels.

The quota of available places can be viewed on the relevant page of the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (Ministero dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca - MIUR) selecting the following institution: Accademia di Belle Arti Legalmente Riconosciuta di Milano “Naba” – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti.

TURANDOT PROGRAM: PRE-REGISTRATION

Chinese Turandot students wishing to enrol in one of NABA’s three-year BA Programs (Diploma Accademico di 1° Livello) or two-year MA programs (Diploma Accademico di 2° Livello) should pre-register with the relevant Italian Diplomatic Representative in their country and simultaneously sign up for an Italian language course (lasting either 10 or 11 months), indicating their chosen location, in accordance with the terms and procedures set out in the relevant ministerial provisions.

It should be noted that to be accepted into the Turandot program, students must have obtained a Gao Kao score of no less than 400/750. In particular, for students graduating in artistic subjects who wish to enrol in Italian Institutions of Artistic, Music and Dance Higher Education (AFAM), scores will be calculated by weighting Gao Kao scores (minimum 300/750) and the art exam (Yi Kao). There is no minimum score for graduates.

Pre-registration through the Turandot Program facilitates the issuance of university-enrolment visas to study in Italy.

See section USEFUL LINKS for further information on the documentation and procedures required to apply for visas with the various Italian Diplomatic Representatives.

Upon passing the final exam of the Italian course included in the Turandot Program, Chinese students do not need to take the Italian test at University and can complete their enrolment in Italy without having to return to China.
