Utopian Hours looks at urban realities and conceives their future developments. This year, the NABA Design Area will also take part in this international festival born from the idea of the non-profit cultural association Torino Stratosferica. The Urbanites' Fair will be the chance to learn more about the new Academic Master in New Urban Design. The event will be held from October 14 to 16 at the Centrale di Nuvola Lavazza via Bologna 32, Turin.
Utopian Hours and the presentation of the Academic Master in New Urban Design
Ideas, projects and places that are improving cities' life: Utopian Hours gives voice to the protagonists of these changes. Thanks to "A World of 8 Billion Cities", the festival closes its contemporary trilogy, begun in 2020, on the shape and image of the urban environments. City makers, activists, architects, and innovators will take the stage to share their experiences during this three-day event. Furthermore, it will be possible to visit The Urbanites' Fair - an exhibition project of the best initiatives offering their vision on the topic. Here NABA will present the Academic Master in New Urban Design to an audience of professionals and students.
The proposed course was born to address the questions springing from the transformation of urban contexts. The bits of the Internet merge with the atoms of the material world in the cities. Such a mix between the concrete and the virtual raises the need to rethink fundamental services. The aim is to develop hybrid, sustainable metropolitan environments that include natural heritage and improve people's quality of life. The Academic Master's gives a new perspective on the role of urban designers. It allows the students to enhance their experience in reading into, interpreting and designing cities to face the new complexity of urban contexts.
