An opportunity for young authors and filmmakers: for the second year in a row, NABA and Fondazione Cinema per Roma promote Z-PITCH at the Rome Film Fest. As of December 1, the contest's second edition call is open to all students and recent graduates from Italy's Schools of Cinema and Media Design. Such a competition is an opportunity to improve and test TV and film pitches

TV and film pitch: the contest and the call

Z-PITCH calls Gen Z to propose audiovisual storytelling projects (in a feature film or serial project format), original and unproduced, in Italian and English. At the end of the first phase, six selected students will be able to participate in an advanced education masterclass. Here, they will learn how to present their pitch to a competent and qualified audience. In addition, they will have the opportunity to meet with some professionals from the audiovisual sector and receive specific feedback. It is a real "market crash test" to understand how end users may receive a project. Entry for the Z-PITCH Contest is free-of-charge, and the deadline is Tuesday, February 28 2023, at 6:00 PM.

The six finalists will be announced by the end of March 2023. At the end of the competition, the Best Pitch and Best Project creative teams will receive a complimentary entry for the next edition of the Rome Film Festival. Also, they will have a further advanced education opportunity: ad hoc tutoring to prepare their projects for Italian and international market platforms. All information about entry requirements is in the call.

Z-PITCH and NABA's focus on audiovisual storytelling

Z-PITCH is a contest developed within Rome City of Film UNESCO. In order to expand the reference network and further implement tools and training channels, NABA and Fondazione Cinema per Roma extended the second edition to some relevant educational institutions. They are the Civica Scuola di Cinema Luchino Visconti, the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli and the Scuola d'Arte Cinematografica Gian Maria Volonté. The aim remains to enhance the training experiences and creativity of the new generations in the audiovisual field and foster encounters between professionals and young talents.

Z-PITCH proves how NABA cares about the film media. The contest is part of a path where creative writing for film and series is among the Academy's priorities. Here is also the motivation of the Academic Master in Screenwriting for Series at the Rome campus. The intensive programme integrates theories, methods and design practices by developing cross-disciplinary design practices for audiovisual screenwriting as well as for the development of film or serial projects.

Entry for the Z-PITCH second edition

Entry for Z-PITCH is open from December 1 to February 28 2023 (6:00 PM).

All current students and graduates of Film and Media Design Schools in Italy can participate.

Entry is free-of-charge and open to projects in Italian and English.
