NABA is glad to announce that Giovanni Tortora and Filippo Zonno, alumni of the BA in Design, with their final projects created under the supervision of Area Leader Claudio Larcher; Paolo Stefano Gentile, Pietro Gaeli and Simone Caronni, alumni of the BA in Desing, with their project designed under the supervision of lecturer Barbara Pollini; and Matteo Brasili, alumnus of the MA in Product Design, with his final project created under the supervision of lecturer Luca Buttafava, were selected as finalists for Ro Plastic Prize 2020, the contest dedicated to circular design solutions and their projects are part of the namesake exhibition at Museo della Scienza e della Tecnologia from 28th September to 4th October.
“Plastiglomerate”, Giovanni Tortora’s project, selected for the Awareness on Communication category, is a reflection on the consequences of human impact on environment, and aims at making it possible for everyone to appreciate a new form of natural artifact, the semi-mineral recently found in nature and born from the plastic materials that contaminate the waters of our planet.
Filippo Zonno, with his project “RE-BOE”, selected for the Industrial Design category, is born from the idea to recover plastic from the sea or coastal areas in order to reuse it and design buoys, in order to eliminate plastic waste from the sea and give it back for a useful purpose.
The project “Peel Saver, ecological fries packaging”, by Paolo Stefano Gentile, Pietro Gaeli e Simone Caronni, selected for the category Packaging Solutions, is based on the idea of using potato peel in order to create a street food packaging. The result is completely made of production waste and is 100% biodegradable.
Selected for the Conscious Innovation Projects category, Matteo Brasili’s “Tre Miglia”, is a tool that works as a moving sieve that collects the floating microplastics from the water surface during the navigation.
The competition, conceived by Rossana Orlandi with Aldo Cibic’s art direction to raise awareness towards plastic re-using, recycling and upcycling, is part of the project Ro Guiltlessplastic that aims at stimulating designers to create projects capable of making a difference in environment issues.
