Creating a magazine means taking care of its creative direction at 360 degrees. NABA Magazine Design laboratory has been focusing on this challenge for some time. For the second year in a row, some of the projects of the students of the MA in Communication Design (which evolved from the academic year 2021/22 in the MA in Visual Design and Integrated Marketing Communication*) will be presented to the public of Triennale Estate. The open access event “The Crystal Ball of Mag – Il Magazine come dialogo universale” will be held at the LAB Room, at Triennale Milano in Viale Emilio Alemagna, 6, on July 5 at 6:30 PM.

How do you create a magazine? This question led NABA Magazine Design laboratory, curated and led by lecturers Roberto Maria Clemente (Creative Director, FIONDA) and Leonardo Caffo (philosopher) under the supervision of Fabio Pelagalli (Course Leader of the Mas of NABA Communication and Graphic Design Area).
In 2022, the workshop focused on the topic of the interview starting from the historic model of Interview, the magazine founded and directed by Andy Warhol. The students learned to carry out an interview, to construct and deconstruct its graphics, to experiment with alternative languages that use only images, sounds, shapes, colors.
From the inputs received, nine examples of contemporary editorial graphics were born and will be presented in a sort of Mag Battle in which the student-authors will dialogue with the guests of the panel. The event will see the participation of Fabio Pelagalli himself, Patrizia Moschella (NABA Communication and Graphic Design Area Leader), Francesca Spiller (Owner and Founder, Reading Room), Andrea Colamedici (Founder, Tlon), Cristiano Seganfreddo (Publisher, Flash Art) and Gea Politi (Co-Founder, CGPS media). The panel will be moderated by Leonardo Caffo and Roberto Maria Clemente.
