A glance towards the extraordinary to recognise it and watch the city in a new way: NABA will take part in Open House Roma 2023 - an opportunity to discover hundreds of architecturally prestigious buildings. On Saturday, May 20, the Academy welcomes visitors to its campus in Via Ostiense 92. The tour will also be the chance to discover a series of projects by NABA students.

Open House Roma and NABA: historical architecture and projects on show

Between the Tiber and the Ostiense area, there is an urban context rich in cultural centres. It comes from the conversion of industrial buildings. The NABA Rome campus results from that same process of architectural regeneration. Municipio VIII, where NABA stands, is at the core of projects realised by students in collaboration with local institutions. The proofs of it are the works born within the BA in Painting and Visual Arts, Graphic Design and Art Direction, Film and Animation and of the Rome campus. These projects will animate the Academy's spaces during Open House. In addition to these, a contribution by BA in Fashion Design students will be on show.

"Una nuova identità per il quadrante Ostiense" - by Rome campus students of the Graphic Design and Art Direction Area - is a project of Brand Identity and Creative Communication - dedicated to Municipio VIII. It will be presented in Room 0.01 at 11:00 AM. Amedeo Ciaccheri (President - Municipio VIII) and Maya Vetri (Assessora alle Politiche Culturali) will take the floor.

Short films and art videos by students of the BAs in Film and Animation and in Painting and Visual Arts will be screened in Room 0.02 all day long. These works were born thanks to the collaboration with AAMOD, Fondazione Archivio Audiovisivo del Movimento Operaio e Democratico. They were recently presented at the first edition of the UnArchive Found Footage Fest - a film festival dedicated to the creative reuse of archive materials.

Two projects will be in Room 0.03: first, the works realised by BA in Painting and Visual Arts students during the Public Art course; second, the exploration of the Ostiense district - a shared activity that involved students of the French academy Les Beaux-Arts Nantes Saint-Nazaire.

To conclude, Room 3.07 will host the fashion film selection "NABA Video Dreams" curated by Silvia Morani (director and NABA lecturer). Here, Rome campus students of the BA in Fashion Design are the authors of a series of videos where they tell their idea of fashion. "NABA Video Dreams" was presented at the Rome Fashion Week organised by Altaroma last February.

In addition to the contributions described above, it will be possible to discover others more in some different spaces of the Academy. Hence, it will be possible to take part in the guided tours of the campus from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM (last admission at 5:00 PM).
