NABA announces its participation in the Milan Design Week 2024 through exciting collaborations, alongside the installation "I am what I throw away", in partnership with AMSA - A2A Group, as part of the INTERNI Cross Vision event for FuoriSalone 2024, from April 15 to 28 in the Cortile d'Onore of the Università degli Studi di Milano (Via Festa del Perdono, 7). From April 16 to 21, the B&B HOTEL Milano City Center Duomo, located at Via San Tomaso 4 - within the Brera District, a key area of Fuorisalone - will showcase the "Pierrot" lamps and "Freya" armchair designed by NABA students from the Design Area. Additionally, from April 15 to 21, the winning projects of the competition for the creative reinterpretation of the A2A Life Company logo by the students of the Communication and Graphic Design Area will be displayed at Via Solferino 28. On the same days, the exhibition “Oggetti d’evasione” will take place at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, located at Via Procaccini 4, hosted by Milano Makers and based on a collection of objects, self-manufactured by the inmates of Bollate prison, collected and reinterpreted by the students of the MA in Social Design.

NABA in collaboration with B&B Hotel Milano City Center Duomo at Fuorisalone 2024: "Pierrot" lamps and "Freya" armchair

On display at the B&B HOTEL Milano City Center Duomo are the Made in NABA projects: "Pierrot" is a collection of table lamps consisting of a glazed ceramic cone trunk and a recycled plastic surface, which light up by using a small sphere. Curated by Claudio Larcher (NABA Design Area Leader), Germana De Michelis (Bachelor of Arts in Design Course Leader the Academy in Milan), Natascia Fenoglio (NABA Lecturer), Carmelo Zocco (NABA Design Laboratory Manager), Valeria Martignoni (NABA Design Laboratory Specialist), and the Design Area students of the Academy Luca Capriccioni, Manuji Colucci, Giulia de Franco, Federico Giuberti, Gabriele Giusti, Benedetta Licini, Sebastian Lopez, Bianca Marossero, Roberto Milanetto, Giulia Moretti, Edoardo Oggioni, Arcangelo Pettinati, Gabriele Riscazzi, Lola Toetzke, and Lucrezia Zaramella, the body of Pierrot can be decorated and personalised: for this first edition, it is dressed with textures inspired by Milan, the city where the lamp was conceived and produced.

Also showcased at Via San Tomaso 4 is "Freya", an armchair created by NABA student Tommaso Chiusi, representing a meeting point between the cutting edge of artificial intelligence and the sensibility of parametric design. It offers a new perspective on the future of furniture, employing a development process where artificial intelligence acts not merely as a tool, but as a creative partner, facilitating the discovery of forms that bridge nature and human existence.

ATL Campaign for the reinterpretation of the A2A Life Company logo at Fuorisalone 2024: the exhibition

At Fuorisalone 2024, the five winning projects of the contest in collaboration with A2A Life Company will be displayed. This contest involved students from the Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and Art Direction, who were tasked with reinterpreting the company's logo, particularly the digit '2' positioned between the two 'A's, reflecting the values, business areas, themes, and pillars that are important and relevant to the brand. The awarded projects, by students Emma Conedera, Giulia Gollin, Carlotta Ianuzzi, Manuel Petrone, and Riccardo Pioggia, will be exhibited from April 15 to 21 at Via Solferino 28.

“Oggetti d’evasione” at Fuorisalone 2024: the exhibition

NABA's presence at Fuorisalone 2024 continues with the exhibition “Oggetti d’evasione”. Curated by Alessandro Guerriero (NABA lecturer) and conceived with Lorenzo Coppola (NABA lecturer) and Valentina Dalla Costa (Course Leader of the Masters of Arts of Design Area), this exhibition delves into the theme of spontaneous design through objects crafted by inmates of Bollate prison. Collected using anthropological research methods that analyse the context and individual stories of their creators, these objects offer insight into the daily life of incarceration, probing its meanings. The anthropological gaze intersects with the aesthetic one, treating these objects as unique design forms whose reinterpretation, the focus of the exhibition, is entrusted to NABA students from the Master of Arts in Social Design Davide Campoli, He Xing, Jingdan Yu, Karen Zamitiz Bonilla Juárez, Morgana Schultze, Sara Millozza, Verena Langthaler, Xinia Fu, and Yu Geng.
