NABA is delighted to announce the participation of its Faculty and some Alumni from the Visual Arts Area in the upcoming 60th International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia, as well as many other esteemed Italian and international exhibitions scheduled between Spring 2024 and Summer 2025.

NABA students and Faculty at the Biennale Arte 2024

The "Disobedience Archive" project, curated by Marco Scotini (NABA Visual Arts Department Head), has been invited to participate in the 60th International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia “Stranieri ovunque - Foreigners Everywhere”, curated by Adriano Pedrosa, which will be open to the public from Saturday, April 20, to Sunday, November 24, 2024. The exhibition will involve students from the Master of Arts in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies at the NABA campuses in Milan and Rome.

While the title of the Biennale Arte 2024 is drawn from a series of works created since 2004 by the collective Claire Fontaine, based in Paris and Palermo and part of the NABA Faculty at the Rome campus, the Italian Pavilion will be curated by Luca Cerizza (NABA Visual Arts Area lecturer). It will feature the project "Due qui / To Hear" by Massimo Bartolini (artist and NABA lecturer), at the Tese delle Vergini in the Arsenale di Venezia. Luca Cerizza will also curate the public program of the Italian Pavilion, in collaboration with Gaia Martino (NABA lecturer). The initiative will see the participation of NABA Visual Arts Department students.

NABA Faculty and Alumni at international Biennials and Triennials

Among other notable appointments to highlight, Liu Ding (Chinese artist and curator, and NABA lecturer), alongside Carol Yinghua Lu, is the Artistic Director of the eighth edition of the Yokohama Triennale in Japan, open from March 15 to June 9, 2024.

Furthermore, Sofia Gotti (NABA lecturer) and Caterina Iaquinta (Bachelor of Arts in Painting and Visual Arts and Master of Arts in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies Course Leader – Rome) will curate the exhibition "Yours in Solidarity – Altre storie tra arte e parola” at the Biennale Donna Ferrara (Ferrara Women's Biennial), a historic event dedicated to contemporary women’s creativity founded by UDI – Unione Donne in Italia, scheduled from April 14 to June 30, 2024.

Also already engaged is Zasha Colah (NABA lecturer and artistic director, along with Francesca Verga, of Ar/Ge Kunst in Bolzano), who has been named curator of the thirteenth Berlin Biennale set for the summer of 2025.

Lastly, the presence of NABA Alumni at significant international exhibitions is noteworthy. Sofia Baldi Pighi (alumna of the NABA Master of Arts in Visual Arts and Curatorial Studies) will serve as the Artistic Director for the inaugural edition of the Malta Biennale (March 13-May 31, 2024). Among the invited artists, NABA alumni Camilla Alberti, Gaia De Megni, and Matteo Messina are also to be noted.
