As part of the activities of NOOSPHERE XX1 – A MOBILE AND EVOLVING SCHOOL, within the framework of cultural exchange between Italy and China, the Pavilion hosts a lecture by the architect Xu Lei about Chinese architecture and urban planning, with the topic “Hyper – connectivity and collective intelligence. An urban, domestic and public perspective”.

The lecture explores decades of urbanization of third-tier cities in China, taking the example of the Xingtai project and introducing how the city of Xingtai has changed for recent ten years. After examining a few examples taken from the traditional Chinese cities’ urban planning, the lecture shows how the attempts to resolve high-density urbanization problem are going back to nature, to tradition, to symbiosis between human and nature, as well as the explorations and experiments that Chinese researchers have made in this area.
