Marco Scotini, Director of Visual Arts Department and Andris Brinkmanis Course Leader of the BA in Painting and Visual Arts, have been invited by Adam Szymczyk, artistic Director of documenta, to participate with their projects at one of the most important and prestigious contemporary arts events.

Andris Brinkmanis, in collaboration with Mara Kimele, Beata Paškevica and Hendrik Folkerts, presents Signals from another world: Anna “Asja Lācis” archives at Grimmwelt museum in Kassel. The exhibition is dedicated to Asja Lācis and her connections with the “children’s theater” and personalities such as Walter Benjamin and Bertolt Brecht.

Marco Scotini presents two days dedicated to the Italian filmaker Alberto Grifi, during ‘TV Politics’, the screening program curated by Hila Peleg. On 24th and 25th August a selection of movies that have made Grifo an internationally renowned author will be shown: Verifica IncertaFestival del Proletariato giovanile al Parco Lambro, Dinni e la Normalina, Michele alla ricerca della felicitàArgonauti, Lia, Anna, ed Evviva! at cinema BALi-Kinos in Kassel, the location will also host movies by Mekas, Mathia Diawara, David Perlov, Mohamed Soueid, Sarah Maldoror and Nagisa Oshima.

documenta will be open until September 19th in Kassel.
