BA in Media Design and Multimedia Arts students Alessandro Elifani, Filippo Fratta Pasini, Stefano Brunati, Leonardo Profeti, Carlo Di Primio, Andrea Agnisetta and Amos Vespero were selected among the 5 winning projects for the contest launched by IMRA - Italian Mixed Reality Association, the most important Italian association focused on augmented reality.

With the support of IMRA, students had the unique opportunity to participate in AWE-Augmented World Expo, the world's largest conference and expo dedicated to augmented reality, held in Santa Clara, California, where they presented their project to the public.

Conceived in the Game Design course, under the guidance of Francesco Alinovi - teacher of the BA in Media Design and Multimedia Arts, the project “Flatty Pirates” is a multiplayer strategic game designed to use the Project Tango platform developed by Google. The goal of the game is to conquer the enemy base positioned in real places; the strategic use of towers and movement is the basic mechanism upon which the whole system is built. The game's objects, seen on screen, are in tune with the real world: the player can turn around, observe them, and study their dynamics.
